S. Robert Williams:
Bob is the founding partner of Williams & Rudderow, and is a native of the Syracuse area. He received his B.A. from Lehigh University in 1976 and then attended Syracuse University College of Law where he received his J.D. in 1979. Bob spent the early part of his career in New York City as a Senior Trial Attorney for the Torts Division, Brooklyn Supreme Court Trial Unit in the New York City Corporation Counsel’s Office.
Upon his return to Syracuse, Bob went to work for Sugarman, Wallace, Maheim, & Schoenwald where he defended numerous types of personal injury cases and essentially learned how to handle a personal injury case “for the other side.” He went into private practice in 1990 concentrating solely on plaintiff’s personal injury cases and has maintained the same focus ever since.
Bob is admitted to practice in all New York state courts and the Northern District of New York. He has successfully taken numerous cases to verdict and has a long track record of favorable settlements for his clients.
He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Academy of Trial Attorneys, Nominated and entered into the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Onondaga County Bar Association.
Because of his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of serious personal injury, Bob has participated as a speaker and lecturer on trial topics and has also sat as a judge and evaluator for the Syracuse University College of Law Moot Court Board.
Additionally, Bob owns two airplanes (a 1940 Boeing Stearman and a 1951 Cessna L19 Bird Dog) and is an accomplished pilot. He competitively ski races and has helped coach Syracuse University football punters in the past. Bob was also the co-captain of his Lehigh Track team in 1976.
Michelle Ellsworth Rudderow:
Michelle received her B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Boston University in 2000. She then received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 2004. During law school, Michelle participated with the Journal of International Law and Commerce as an Associate Editor and also participated in numerous appellate competitions.
Michelle is also a native of the Syracuse area and began working for S. Robert Williams as a clerk in 2001. She then joined Bob as an associate after graduation from law school in 2004 and was named partner in 2010.
Michelle has served on the Board of Directors for the Central New York Women’s Bar Association for several years. She has also served as a Co-Chair for the CNY Women’s Bar Association’s Judicial Screening Committee for three years. In addition to the CNY Women’s Bar Association, Michelle is a member of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the New York State Bar Association, and the Onondaga County Bar Association. She has been recognized since 2017 in Upstate New York Super Lawyers, a publication with membership limited to the top 5% of lawyers in each state.
While attending Boston University, Michelle played Division I lacrosse and was a co-captain of her team. A Syracuse native, Michelle remained after law school and now resides in Manlius with her husband, Chris, and three children. When possible, Michelle volunteers at her church, for Vera House, and for various veteran’s organizations.

Emily joined Williams & Rudderow in 2006 as a paralegal and, for the last thirteen years, has been instrumental in providing support to Bob and Michelle on a daily basis.
Also a native of the Syracuse area, Emily received her B.A. from Ithaca College in Business Administration in 2003 where she was cum laude.
Emily is also a certified fitness instructor and holds numerous classes throughout the Syracuse area.
